Greek Cooking Class featuring Mary Valle.

Join us at Spencer & Co Wine Bar Provedore in a relaxed, friendly cooking class to learn about Greek ingredients, techniques and flavours.

Tuesday, 24 March 2020
Time: 4pm for a 4.30pm start
Price: $180.00 pp

Cooking Classes are designed in an informal manner and are demonstration format, though I encourage you to participate during the class.

During this intimate cooking class, you will learn about the Greek Mediterranean diet, and the recipes and stories that inspired Mary to document traditional recipes and write her cookbooks.

Learn how to make filo pastry from scratch and prepare a spanakopita. You will learn how to prepare stuffed vegetables, which we will serve with a salad and tzatziki. And a special sweet treat to complete the meal with a coffee.  It will feel more like a gathering of friends who have a shared love for Greek Mediterranean style food.

Afterwards, you will enjoy the fruits of our labour with a glass of wine and you will take away with you recipe booklets so you can prepare the food at home plus some extra recipes for sharing with family and friends.


Indulging in dishes cooked with quality ingredients (some home grown, some organic).
A sit-down meal at the end of the class.
One standard glass of quality wine, mineral water, coffee and tea.
Participation in the cooking is optional but advisable.

Class sizes are limited so bookings are essential.
Full payment must be made at the time of booking.
Places in the class are confirmed upon receipt of full payment on a first in first serve basis.
Payment will not be refunded for cancellations made within 14 days of the class commencing.
However, you are welcome to send someone in your place if you are unable to attend the class.
If due to exceptional circumstances a scheduled class does not run we reserve the right to change the date of the class or to cancel it. An alternative date will be given or a full refund.
Minimum of 8 people required to run classes.
Duration of class will take approximately 3-4 hours  – allowing also time to eat them and enjoy them.

About Mary Valle
Born to Greek parents, Mary grew up surrounded by tradition and a love of food. Mary’s love of travel, a rich Greek heritage and great skill in the kitchen has seen the Melbourne-based cook become one of Australia’s most-respected authorities on Mediterranean cuisine.

Mary often spends time in her family’s home in Greece and nearby Mediterranean countries where she learns new techniques and recipes to add to her kitchen. She teaches Mediterranean style cooking in Melbourne, sharing her passion and love for food with others. She is the author of the best-selling cookery books My Greek Kitchen, My Mediterranean Kitchen, Everyday Mediterranean and Mediterranean Lifestyle Cooking and contributes to magazines regularly.

Mary has led four sold out retreats to Ikaria and her new cookbook “Ikaria” will be published by Hardie Grant, in September 2020.

We are thrilled to announce that Brian Martin from Hunter-Gatherer Vintners is hosting our next wine and cheese masterclass.

Brian is one of the most respected people in the wine industry.  He is the chief winemaker for the biggest contract sparkling producer in the southern hemisphere, but we’ll be shining a spotlight on his own Hunter-Gatherer label. 

Premium wines with genuine personality, all made by hand in minuscule quantities from Heathcote and Macedon Ranges fruit. 

Brian will be showcasing his highly rated Riesling, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Shiraz.

from Duke’s Vineyard.

Since planting the first vines on Duke’s 60th birthday in 1999, as “their retirement”, Duke’s Vineyard has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed vineyards in Western Australia.  Being consistently named in James Halliday’s Top 100 since 2013 and winning Best Wine in Australia with their 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling, the first time a white has ever won!

Delve into Duke’s winemaking journey whilst we showcase five of their wines carefully matched with five artisan cheeses.
